HP is partnering with Condé Nast to distribute content from magazines by having it sent automatically to your web-connected printer! There is even going to be an “Instant Ink” program that, for a monthly fee, will have the ink you need to print these magazines delivered to your home or office (no word on the paper though). Why subscribe to a magazine when you can subscribe to the raw materials?

Back in August when Tim Cook took over Apple, The Onion had a thing about him deciding Apple’s next big thing would be printers: “Laser, ink-jet, double-sided, color,  black-and-white—the future of technology is in printers. I am absolutely convinced of that.”

This… basically happened at HP? They had a management turn over and decided that after the TouchPad didn’t work out, they’d pull a fast one on those other fools trying to do digital content distribution to devices (Apple, Amazon) by cutting out the tablet and going right to the consumer, with paper, just like real magazines!
